Our client seeks a Lead Software Engineer to own and lead a critical enterprise application. The role requires leadership, application ownership, and hands-on development across middleware, web services, and SQL Server. The engineer will design, develop, test, and support solutions, drive architectural decisions, and handle operational data requests, including large-scale SQL updates. The position is on-site four days per week in New Jersey and will require on-site interviews.

Responsibilities

- Lead and own an enterprise application, serving as the primary technical leader.
- Design, re-design, code, test, debug, configure, and document software solutions for insurance business needs.
- Ensure requirements are complete, consistent, feasible, and unambiguous.
- Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, QA, and third parties including data providers and software vendors.
- Create project inputs for plans, estimates, and schedules, and deliver organized presentations.
- Perform impact analysis and apply design methodologies and best practices.
- Proactively identify and resolve quality and performance issues across environments.
- Research, coordinate, and track issues to resolution, including production performance concerns.

Experience Requirements
\n

- Minimum 5 years of software engineering experience.
- Expert-level SQL Server skills, including complex queries, joins, data analysis, data mining, performance tuning, and large-scale update scripts. Experience with DB2 and MS SQL Server.
- Strong middleware and web services experience, including service-layer architecture and integrations.
- Full-stack background with Java/J2EE 8+, Spring MVC, REST, JMS, JBOSS, ESB (Mule), JSON, MyBatis, XML, XSLT, SOAP, Maven.
- Front-end experience with Angular v11+, TypeScript/JavaScript, and CSS libraries such as Bootstrap and PrimeNG.
- AWS knowledge is a plus, including Lambda, S3, and application development for AWS.
- Ability to design maintainable solutions and produce comprehensive technical documentation.
- Demonstrated leadership, ownership, independent execution, and effective communication across stakeholders.
