About UniVirtual Solutions

UniVirtual Solutions (UVS) is a Georgia-based managed service provider serving businesses in Atlanta and Florida since 2009. We are Christian, family, and veteran owned. We keep our clients secure and productive with managed IT, cybersecurity, hosted VoIP, and network services, and we are growing our low voltage and structured cabling work.

The Role

This is not an entry-level help desk role. We are hiring an experienced Tier 2 technician for a role with three parts: resolving escalated help desk issues that Tier 1 cannot, providing on-site support at client locations, and performing low voltage and structured cabling work. This is a remote, full-time position with regular travel to client sites in metro Atlanta and Macon. Mileage is paid. You must hold a current Georgia Low Voltage Telecommunications (LV-T) or Unrestricted (LV-U) license.

What You Will Do

1. Help Desk Escalations (Tier 2)

  • Take escalated help desk tickets and calls that need deeper troubleshooting
  • Resolve Windows, Mac, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange Online, and network connectivity issues remotely
  • Troubleshoot firewalls, switches, Wi-Fi, VPN, and VoIP issues; escalate infrastructure design questions to our Senior Engineer
  • Mentor Tier 1 staff by documenting fixes and building knowledge base articles

2. On-Site Support

  • Travel to client sites in metro Atlanta and Macon for issues that cannot be solved remotely
  • Set up and replace workstations, printers, and peripherals; handle office moves and new-hire setups
  • Install and configure network gear: firewalls, switches, and wireless access points (UniFi experience a plus)
  • Be the professional, face-to-face representative of UVS with our clients

3. Low Voltage Work

  • Install, terminate, test, certify, and label structured cabling (Cat5e/Cat6, patch panels, racks, wall plates)
  • Run cabling and deploy VoIP desk phones for our hosted phone system
  • Install and support cameras, access control, and other low voltage systems
  • Perform site surveys and help scope low voltage projects and quotes

Required

  • Current Georgia LV-T (Telecommunications) license, or LV-U (Unrestricted)
  • 4+ years of IT support experience, including at least 2 years in a Tier 2 or escalation role (MSP experience strongly preferred)
  • Microsoft 365 administration: Entra ID (Azure AD), Exchange Online, MFA and conditional access, SharePoint/OneDrive, and Teams
  • Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows Server fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, file shares, permissions)
  • Endpoint management and security: Intune or RMM tools, patching, EDR/antivirus, and backup and restore
  • Networking: TCP/IP, VLANs, routing basics, firewall rules, site-to-site and client VPN, and Wi-Fi troubleshooting
  • Hands-on structured cabling experience: pulling, terminating, testing, and certifying
  • Proven ability to own an escalated issue through root cause and resolution, with clear documentation
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable personal vehicle
  • Based in metro Atlanta or the Macon, GA area for client site visits
  • Able to lift 50 lbs, work on ladders, and work in ceilings, attics, and crawl spaces

Nice to Have

  • Georgia LV-A (Alarm) or LV-G (General) license in addition to LV-T
  • CompTIA Network+ or Security+, Microsoft 365 certifications (MS-102 / MD-102), or BICSI certification
  • Experience with UniFi / Ubiquiti, SonicWall, or Fortinet firewalls and wireless design
  • Camera (CCTV) and access control installation experience
  • Hosted VoIP phone system setup and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with Autotask, Datto RMM, IT Glue, or Kaseya tools
  • Mac and Google Workspace support

How This Role Fits

  • Reports directly to the owner
  • Technical escalations go to our Senior Engineer; business or client risk goes to the owner
  • Works alongside our service team to keep tickets moving and customers informed

What This Role Is Not

  • Not responsible for infrastructure or network design (that sits with our Senior Engineer)
  • Not responsible for sales or account management

Your First 90 Days

  • Owning escalated tickets independently from diagnosis to resolution, with clean notes and time entries
  • Completing on-site cabling and network installs to our documentation standard
  • Clients receiving consistent, professional updates on your work

What We Offer

  • Pay: $36 to $40 per hour ($74,880 to $83,200 per year), based on experience and certifications. Full-time, hourly (non-exempt), overtime eligible with prior approval
  • Annual performance bonus
  • Scheduled pay reviews at 6 months and every year after, with a defined growth path toward a senior field or project role
  • Remote position with paid travel: mileage reimbursed at the Georgia state rate (currently $0.76 per mile)
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k)
  • 80 hours of paid time off, 40 hours of sick leave, and paid holidays
  • Georgia low voltage license renewal and continuing education fees paid by UVS
  • A small, close-knit team where your work is seen and valued
