Job Description

Requires a moderate degree of PM knowledge, experience, skill & expertise. Additional skills needed include communication, problem solving, managing for results, managing conflict, creativity, and critical thinking.

Operates in coordination with and takes direction from both the ePMO Lead/Proj Lead to ensure all project activities and outputs align with strategic objectives, deliverables, schedules, business case, and expectations set with Sponsors and senior leadership. Supports a combination of simple projects while facilitating and guiding the team to adhere to the PM discipline.

This position will drive setting the team's cadence for planning, updates, and status reviews with Sponsors. He/she supports the success of the project by applying PM principles, guidelines, and standards. Travel may be required as needed.


Job Duties

Assists the Project Lead to ensure project output meets program expectations (approximately 15% of time). Facilitates all project planning and execution of PM activities (approximately 25% of time). Applies PM processes and tools appropriate for projects (approximately 50% of time). Identifies and manages interdependencies with other projects and initiatives (approximately 10% of time).

The role manages project scope, schedule, initiation, start-up/design, building, and deployment of projects from beginning to end. Creates and manages PM artifacts while educating the team on their creation and proper use throughout the project, including the Project Charter, Project Plan, RACI, Risk/Issue Identification & Mitigation, and Status Reports. Develops and updates appropriate PM artifacts as needed, reviews deliverables to ensure quality, and provides PM methodology and tools to ensure proper governance, oversight, strategic alignment, and overall project success.

Facilitates initiation and planning of project scope, including objectives, resources, milestones, risks, communications, and other planning activities. Reviews funding, cost plans, and actual expenses to verify projects remain within approved funding parameters in coordination with the Project Lead. Demonstrates proficiency in PM discipline with an emphasis on effective use of PM soft skills essential to project success.

Solicits and gathers information through interviews with process owners to understand both the "as-is" and "to-be" processes. Identifies and communicates skill gaps to the Project Lead while recommending improvement opportunities. Provides the Project Lead with thorough responses for problem resolution, identifies business areas and stakeholders impacted by issues, and determines root causes to help prevent recurrence.

Communicates processes to customers trained on process changes and enhancements, develops and monitors process metrics to gauge project health and identify process improvement opportunities, and observes processes while gathering feedback and concerns from stakeholders to support continuous improvement.


Required Qualifications

Experience applying Stakeholder/Communication Management principles, including working with governing bodies, Owners, Sponsors, key senior stakeholders, the Project Lead, project teams, and SMEs. Ability to plan work weeks in advance while managing multiple projects simultaneously. Must be able to work full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) with the potential for overtime as necessary and be flexible to work occasional weekends, holidays, and overnight stays depending on assignment requirements.

Experience and expertise with commercial PM software such as Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office, along with the ability to learn the Projects Website and other related tools. Experience using web-based remote meeting applications such as Skype, Zoom, and WebEx. Willingness to travel by plane or drive a personal vehicle or rental car as required. Mileage, airfare, and rental car expenses will be reimbursed.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree (or international comparable degree). Three (3) years of Project Management experience. Six (6) years of experience as a project team member. Experience using Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project and SharePoint. Willingness to travel by plane or drive a personal vehicle or rental car.


Preferred Qualifications

PM certifications such as PMI PMP, Agile, LEAN Certified, Six Sigma, or equivalent certifications are preferred.
