Job Title: Janitor

Job Description

This role provides full-service janitorial support across a large corporate campus, ensuring offices, common areas, laboratories, and shared spaces remain clean, safe, and well-maintained. You will perform a wide range of cleaning and sanitizing tasks, work on your feet throughout the shift, and interact professionally with building occupants while delivering consistent, high-quality service.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily janitorial duties for the facility, ensuring all assigned areas remain clean, orderly, and presentable.
  • Clean and sanitize office spaces, cubicles, conference rooms, laboratories, lobbies, and common areas.
  • Sweep, mop, dust, and vacuum floors and surfaces throughout the building.
  • Spray and wash tables and other frequently used surfaces to maintain a sanitary environment.
  • Clean and restock restrooms, including replenishing supplies and ensuring fixtures and surfaces remain hygienic.
  • Wipe handles, counters, and other high-touch surfaces regularly to support a clean and safe environment.
  • Remove trash and recyclables from offices, restrooms, and common areas, and transport them to designated disposal locations.
  • Wash interior windows and glass surfaces as needed to maintain a neat and professional appearance.
  • Follow established cleaning procedures and safety guidelines, including proper use of cleaning products and equipment.
  • Work independently to manage assigned tasks and areas, meeting expectations for quality and timeliness.
  • Provide courteous and approachable customer service when interacting with building occupants and visitors.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality to support reliable coverage for this 24-hour site.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of previous experience in cleaning, janitorial, custodial, sanitizing, housekeeping, environmental services, or a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience performing janitorial duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing.
  • Ability to work on your feet for the entire shift and walk across a large campus.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing assigned tasks and areas.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment.
  • Friendly and approachable demeanor, with the ability to interact professionally with people in a 24-hour facility.
  • Reliability and strong attendance, with the ability to arrive on time and complete scheduled shifts.
  • Comfort using basic cleaning equipment and supplies safely and effectively.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in offices, bathrooms, lobbies, laboratories, and conference rooms.
  • Ability to follow established cleaning schedules and adapt to changing priorities as needed.
  • Comfort working in a large, multi-building campus environment with significant walking.
  • Willingness to use personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and gloves when required.

Work Environment

This position is based on a large corporate campus that requires extensive walking throughout the day. You will work primarily indoors in offices, bathrooms, lobbies, laboratories, and conference rooms. The standard schedule is first shift, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. You will remain on your feet for most of the shift while performing cleaning tasks. Work-appropriate jeans and a shirt are acceptable attire. Safety glasses and gloves are supplied as needed, and you will use standard janitorial tools and cleaning products while following safety and cleanliness standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Des Moines, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.50 - $16.50/hr.
