Job DescriptionCustodian / Janitorial AssociatePosition SummaryThe Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the facility, including offices, restrooms, break rooms, warehouses, production areas, and common spaces. This position supports food safety, employee safety, and operational efficiency by ensuring all areas meet company cleanliness, GMP, and safety standards.Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize offices, restrooms, locker rooms, break rooms, conference rooms, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors, surfaces, and equipment as assigned.
- Empty trash and recycling containers and properly dispose of waste.
- Replenish cleaning supplies, paper products, soap, and sanitizer stations.
- Clean windows, doors, walls, and other facility surfaces.
- Maintain warehouse and production floor cleanliness in accordance with GMP and food safety requirements.
- Safely use and store cleaning chemicals and janitorial equipment.
- Perform routine inspections to identify cleaning, maintenance, or safety concerns.
- Respond promptly to spills and sanitation needs.
- Assist with facility setup and cleanup for meetings, events, and special projects.
- Follow all OSHA, GMP, food safety, and company safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate cleaning logs and sanitation records when required.
- Support other facility and maintenance-related duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or facilities experience preferred.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Reliable attendance and positive work ethic.
Preferred
- Experience in food manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environments.
- Knowledge of GMP, sanitation, and food safety practices.
- Experience operating floor scrubbers, buffers, and other cleaning equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work around cleaning chemicals and sanitation products.
- Ability to perform repetitive cleaning tasks throughout the shift.
Work Environment
- Food ingredient manufacturing and warehouse facility.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals, warehouse traffic, and varying temperatures.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
