About the Opportunity
Elite Fire Services is currently seeking a Fire Alarm and Fire Sprinkler Technician out of our Blanchester, OH office location. The Fire Alarm and Fire Sprinkler Technician is responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and installation of fire alarm systems and fire sprinkler systems in accordance with applicable NFPA standards, local codes, and company procedures. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and compliance of life safety systems while delivering exceptional customer service.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Fire Alarm Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of fire alarm systems.
- Inspect and test initiating devices, notification appliances, control panels, communicators, and associated equipment.
- Diagnose system deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
- Program and commission fire alarm systems as required.
- Complete service reports, inspection reports, and deficiency documentation accurately and timely.
- Verify system functionality and code compliance following repairs or modifications.
Fire Sprinkler Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs of wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, and standpipe systems.
- Conduct annual, quarterly, monthly, and five-year inspections in accordance with NFPA 25 requirements.
- Inspect sprinkler heads, valves, fire pumps, backflow preventers, and associated components.
- Identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions to customers and management.
- Assist with sprinkler system modifications and installations as needed.
- Verify proper operation of sprinkler systems following service or repairs.
General Responsibilities
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, NFPA, state, and local safety regulations.
- Provide professional customer service and effectively communicate system conditions and recommendations.
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in good working condition.
- Coordinate with scheduling, operations, and project management teams to complete assigned work.
- Participate in on-call rotation and emergency service response as required.
- Accurately document labor hours, materials used, and completed work.
- Maintain all required certifications and licenses.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience servicing fire alarm and/or fire sprinkler systems.
- Working knowledge of NFPA 25, NFPA 72, and applicable local fire codes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and system drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass pre-employment background screening and drug testing.
Preferred
- NICET Certification in Fire Alarm Systems and/or Water-Based Systems Layout, Inspection, or Testing.
- Fire alarm and/or sprinkler licenses in Ohio and Kentucky.
- ASSE certification in backflow
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and access confined spaces.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in various environmental conditions for extended periods.
- Ability to distinguish colors for wiring and system identification.
