SUMMARY: The Facilities & Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager is responsible for leading facility operations, ensuring manufacturing equipment uptime, infrastructure reliability, and environmental, health, and safety programs to maintain safe, compliant, and efficient site performance.


This role serves as the operational owner of facility infrastructure and EH&S systems, ensuring:

  • Facilities, utilities, and infrastructure reliably support production and business operations
  • Environmental, Health & Safety compliance and culture are fully embedded across the site
  • Preventive and predictive maintenance programs maximize manufacturing equipment uptime and building system reliability
  • New manufacturing equipment onboarding is effectively led in partnership with Engineering and Quality to ensure production readiness
  • Third-party contracts for facility and manufacturing equipment support (e.g., HVAC, electrical, utilities) are properly managed
  • Capital projects supporting capacity increases and facility improvements are successfully executed
  • Operations meet all applicable OSHA, EPA, ISO, and customer requirements
  • Continuous improvement drives measurable performance in safety (e.g., TRIR), uptime, compliance, and cost efficiency


This position serves as the site authority on EH&S compliance, with the authority to intervene or stop work when safety or environmental risks are identified.


The role plays a critical leadership function in aligning facility readiness, infrastructure reliability, and safety compliance to support production continuity, employee well-being, and long-term business scalability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Facilities & Infrastructure Management

  • Own and manage all facility operations, infrastructure, utilities, and building systems to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations
  • Develop and sustain preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize manufacturing equipment uptime, reliability, and cost efficiency
  • Plan and execute capital projects including facility upgrades, expansions, and infrastructure improvements aligned with business growth
  • Lead onboarding, installation, and integration of new manufacturing equipment in partnership with Engineering and Quality to ensure production readiness
  • Ensure facility readiness to support production, validation, and new product introduction (NPI) requirements
  • Manage third-party contractors and service providers (e.g., HVAC, electrical, utilities) to ensure performance, safety, and cost control

EH&S Leadership & Compliance

  • Own and lead the company-wide EH&S program with full accountability for compliance, risk mitigation, and performance
  • Serve as the primary authority for OSHA, EPA, and regulatory compliance, including audits, inspections, and regulatory interactions
  • Establish and sustain a proactive safety culture through hazard identification, risk assessment, training, and preventive controls
  • Lead incident investigations and environmental events, ensuring root cause analysis and effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Manage hazardous materials, waste handling, and environmental compliance programs


Performance, Risk & Continuous Improvement

  • Define, monitor, and drive performance through KPIs (e.g., uptime, TRIR, audit findings, corrective actions)
  • Conduct routine inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify gaps and ensure timely resolution
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies
  • Integrate EH&S considerations into engineering, operational processes, and change management activities


Business Integration & Leadership

  • Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, and Operations to support production continuity and compliance
  • Align facilities and EH&S strategies with business objectives, balancing cost, safety, service levels, and regulatory performance
  • Build, lead, and develop high-performing teams across Facilities and EH&S
  • Maintain authority to stop work when safety or environmental risks are identified
  • Support emergency preparedness, business continuity, and site security initiatives


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong expertise in facilities management, infrastructure systems, and maintenance programs within a manufacturing environment
  • Deep knowledge of facility systems including HVAC, electrical, compressed air, water, fire protection, and utilities
  • Proven leadership of EH&S programs including OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001 / 45001 principles, and audit readiness
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and safe work practices
  • Advanced problem-solving skills with application of root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Ability to plan and execute capital projects with effective cost and ROI management
  • Strong communication and influence skills across all levels of the organization

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Technology, or related field
  • 7–10+ years of progressive experience in facilities management, maintenance leadership, and EH&S within manufacturing or regulated environments
  • Demonstrated experience managing facility operations, infrastructure, and preventive maintenance programs
  • Proven leadership and implementation of EH&S programs, including compliance, audits, and culture development
  • Experience supporting manufacturing operations, including collaboration with engineering and production teams
  • Strong experience with audits, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Professional certifications (CSP, ASP, CHMM, OSHA 30, ISO auditor) preferred
