We are looking for a Junior Cyber Security Administrator to join a team in Tallmadge, Ohio in a contract potential for hire role. This position supports day-to-day cyber defense operations by helping protect infrastructure, responding to security events, and strengthening internal practices. The role is well suited for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, can operate independently in a collaborative environment, and is comfortable contributing to both cybersecurity and broader IT support efforts.
Responsibilities:
• Monitor security platforms, assess alerts, and take appropriate action to investigate, contain, and document potential threats.
• Partner with IT colleagues to safeguard systems, networks, and business applications through effective security administration and control oversight.
• Administer and improve logging and SIEM capabilities by refining alert logic, dashboards, correlation rules, and data retention settings.
• Perform vulnerability scans across endpoints, servers, applications, and network assets, then coordinate remediation activities with the appropriate teams.
• Support incident response efforts by examining suspicious activity, assisting with investigations, and following established response procedures.
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of security runbooks, operational procedures, reports, and other documentation that improves consistency and readiness.
• Research emerging risks, threat intelligence, and industry advisories to help the organization stay current on evolving cybersecurity concerns.
• Assist with security awareness efforts for end users and provide Tier 2 help desk and secondary systems administration support as needed.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity, systems administration, help desk, network support, or a similar technical function.
• Working knowledge of SIEM platforms, endpoint protection technologies, vulnerability management, and security event analysis.
• Familiarity with incident response processes, security monitoring, and defensive administration in enterprise environments.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues methodically, prioritize alerts, and communicate findings clearly through documentation and reporting.
• Experience with configuration management and general IT infrastructure support in a small-team or cross-functional environment.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+ or Network+ are valued.
