Job Description
Field Technology Support Specialist
We are recruiting for a hands-on Field Technology Support Specialist to provide direct on-site hardware, software, and peripheral support across our multiple locations. This role covers locations throughout Orange County, with occasional travel to Los Angeles locations. The candidate possesses strong multi-platform troubleshooting skills (Windows, macOS, and ChromeOS) and excels at communicating professionally with on-site managers and teams.
Core Responsibilities
- Deliver on-site break/fix and hardware support for Windows and Mac computers at the locations.
- Maintain public-facing system integrity, ensuring kiosk modes, session timeouts, and guest profiles reset cleanly between uses.
- Provide quick response troubleshooting for office staff workstations, and desk phones.
- Deliver initial tier-1 technical support remotely for laptops, desktop computers, point-of-sale peripherals, and local office hardware across Orange County office and locations. Dispatch on-site to perform hands-on remediation whenever issues cannot be resolved remotely.
- Conduct physical network connectivity checks (tracing cables, verifying patch panel connections, confirming switch link lights, and rebooting local network equipment in coordination with Network Engineering).
- Ensure conference rooms, digital signage displays, and television-equipped marketing spaces remain fully operational.
- Image and deploy Chromebox, Windows, and Mac system refreshes to replace aging field assets.
- Enroll and configure Chromebox devices into the Google Admin Console for standardized knowledge worker and kiosk deployments.
- Stage, image, and customize Windows workstations using enterprise deployment tools.
- Package and prepare retired hardware for secure e-waste disposal, executing certified drive wipes or chain-of-custody documentation according to corporate compliance standards.
- Perform manual and scripted software installations for computers.
- Remediate localized software corruption, profile sync errors, and security certificate issues on-site when remote tools cannot reach the machine.
- Manage a dynamic daily field schedule, prioritizing urgent tickets, coordinating arrival times with on-site managers, and minimizing travel downtime.
- Maintain 100% ticket compliance in the ITSM system: logging detailed triage notes, tracking hardware serial numbers/asset tags, and updating ticket statuses in real time from mobile devices.
Required Technical Qualifications
- Operating Systems: Solid diagnostic and configuration skills in Windows 11, macOS, and ChromeOS (specifically enterprise-enrolled Chromeboxes).
- Hardware Troubleshooting: Demonstrated ability to disassemble, diagnose, and repair desktop towers, small-form-factor PCs, all-in-ones, laptops, and peripheral interfaces.
- Deployment Systems: Practical experience using enterprise imaging and management tools (SCCM and Batch patch, Active Directory, Google Admin console, Workspace ONE).
- Network Fundamentals: Practical understanding of IP addressing (DHCP/Static reservations), DNS resolution, local Wi-Fi authentication, and basic patch cable termination/testing.
Candidate Profile & Field Requirements
- Experience: 4 years of technical support experience, with hands on field technician experience, roving desktop support, or multi-site environment.
- Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver computer towers, and monitors weighing up to 50 lbs; comfortable crawling under desks for cabling and mounting hardware.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direct physical supervision, balancing efficiency with an approachable, customer-centric attitude when interacting with property teams and residents.
- Excellent communication skills and attitude.
