Job Description
Junior Business Development & Acquisitions Analyst
Location: Newport Beach, CA
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: In Office Monday–Thursday | Remote Fridays
Experience Level: Entry-Level / Early Career
About the Opportunity
KCG Search is partnering with a growing investment and acquisition-focused organization in Newport Beach seeking a motivated, outgoing, and entrepreneurial Junior Business Development & Acquisitions Analyst.
This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career professional interested in business development, private equity, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), investment research, and corporate growth strategy.
You'll work directly with senior leadership to identify potential acquisition opportunities, connect with business owners and industry professionals, and help develop a pipeline of prospective investments.
This is not a traditional desk-bound financial analyst position. We're looking for someone who enjoys meeting people, initiating conversations, building relationships, and uncovering business opportunities.
The role combines business development, market research, acquisition sourcing, and exposure to real-world transactions. You'll also have opportunities to attend industry conferences, travel, and participate in meetings with business owners and investment professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Acquisition Sourcing
- Identify and research companies that may represent attractive acquisition or investment opportunities.
- Conduct outbound prospecting through phone calls, email, LinkedIn, and professional networking.
- Build relationships with business owners, brokers, investment bankers, and other referral sources.
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of potential acquisition targets and business development opportunities.
- Research companies, industries, market trends, and potential acquisition opportunities.
- Participate in meetings and discussions with business owners, brokers, and senior leadership.
Market Research & Financial Analysis
- Conduct company and industry research to support potential acquisition opportunities.
- Gather, organize, and analyze business and financial information.
- Assist with preliminary acquisition research and due diligence activities.
- Prepare market research reports, presentations, white papers, and summaries for senior leadership.
- Utilize AI tools, financial research platforms, and technology to improve research and sourcing efficiency.
Networking, Conferences & Strategic Growth
- Research business, financial, M&A, and industry conferences to identify valuable networking and acquisition sourcing opportunities.
- Identify relevant conferences across manufacturing, industrial, medical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device sectors.
- Recommend conferences and events that align with the organization's acquisition strategy.
- Attend conferences, networking events, and business meetings as a representative of the organization.
- Travel as needed to meet with business owners, brokers, and other industry contacts.
- Support strategic growth initiatives and special projects involving the organization and its portfolio companies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of professional experience preferred; recent graduates with strong internships are encouraged to apply.
- Strong interest in business development, private equity, mergers and acquisitions, investments, or entrepreneurship.
- Confident, outgoing personality with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Comfortable initiating conversations, conducting outreach, and building professional relationships.
- Strong analytical, research, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated, resourceful, curious, and eager to learn.
- Willingness and ability to travel as business needs require.
Preferred Experience
- Internship or professional experience in business development, sales, banking, brokerage, investment research, or another client-facing role.
- Exposure to company research, financial analysis, or industry research.
- Familiarity with AI productivity tools and financial research platforms.
- Interest in corporate acquisitions, investment strategy, and business growth.
