This role ensures the reliable operation of production, packaging, processing, and utility equipment during 3rd shift by performing both planned and unplanned maintenance. You will troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and ammonia systems, support continuous production in a GMP-regulated environment, and uphold high standards of safety, food quality, and housekeeping.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by performing planned and unplanned maintenance on production, packaging, processing equipment, and utility systems that supply heat, steam, cooling, electrical power, gas, and air.
- Perform electrical and ammonia-related maintenance and troubleshooting to keep equipment running safely and efficiently.
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns, diagnose issues, and perform effective repairs to minimize downtime.
- Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals, and work orders to determine and perform required maintenance and service.
- Pull wire, terminate circuits, and troubleshoot PLC input/output (I/O) and limit switches to restore equipment functionality.
- Complete maintenance work orders accurately and in a timely manner while maintaining high quality standards.
- Maintain clear communication with other departments, leadership, and coworkers to notify them of any issues that may affect production efficiency.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions and any food safety violations to the appropriate leadership.
- Comply with HACCP and GMP protocols and follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe, high-quality food products that meet regulatory and company requirements.
- Maintain safe work practices at all times and adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines.
- Ensure good housekeeping in all work areas, keeping equipment and surroundings clean and orderly.
- Perform other maintenance-related tasks and projects as assigned or negotiated with the supervisor.
- Work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays, as needed to support production demands.
Essential Skills
- At least 3+ years of maintenance experience, preferably in a GMP-regulated environment.
- At least 3+ years of experience troubleshooting mechanical issues on production or industrial equipment.
- Hands-on experience with electrical systems, including pulling wire, terminating circuits, and working with electrical components.
- Experience working with ammonia systems in an industrial or processing environment.
- Ability to troubleshoot PLCs at the I/O level (not programming) and diagnose issues with limit switches and related control components.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, including experience with pumps, pneumatics, and general mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation such as service manuals, work orders, and technical procedures.
- Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and the ability to work in a regulated food production environment.
- Commitment to safe work practices and adherence to HACCP and food safety protocols.
- Willingness and ability to work 3rd shift and to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Blueprint reading experience is a plus.
- Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics is a plus.
- Background in preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
- Experience working on packaging lines, processing equipment, and utility systems in an industrial setting.
- Ability to maintain clear communication across departments and collaborate effectively with production and other teams.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high quality standards in all maintenance work.

Work Environment
This is a 3rd shift role with two primary schedules: Sunday to Wednesday from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and Wednesday to Saturday from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., with significant overtime potential, including some weekends and holidays. You will work in a GMP-regulated food production facility where wearing a hair net and, when applicable, a beard net is required throughout the facility. The environment includes refrigerated packaging lines and shipping/storage areas, as well as a blow mold area that can be relatively hot, so temperatures vary widely across different parts of the plant. You will work around production, packaging, processing, and utility equipment, using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic tools and systems while adhering to strict safety, cleanliness, and food safety standards.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
