Summary Description:

BB&N is seeking a full-time College Counselor to cover a leave of absence during the Winter and Spring of 2026-2027, joining our five-person team. The ideal candidate will bring experience in school-based counseling, along with strong knowledge of and curiosity about the college admissions landscape. We are looking for a professional with exceptional interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the organizational, writing, speaking, and listening abilities needed to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively. Intercultural fluency and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion are essential, as the successful candidate will help create and sustain an authentic, inclusive community. We are a team where diverse experiences, backgrounds, and talents are valued and where all members are equipped to support a wide range of students, faculty, staff, and families.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Key functions for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Counsel an assigned caseload of approximately 31 seniors, continuing work that has been started with their application processes, including essay review, application and financial aid document submission, interview preparation, and outreach to college admission representatives.

  • Launch the college process with juniors in January, meeting individually with students and families to help identify needs and wants, research college options, and outline testing plans.

  • Collaborate closely with faculty members and academic advisors to support each student's college counseling process.

  • Communicate proactively and effectively with all constituencies, including students, families, college admission representatives, and the broader BB&N community.

  • Support the planning and execution of college counseling events throughout the winter, including one weekend event and occasional evening programs, and deliver presentations to students, families, and faculty.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Requirements, Skills, and Competencies:

BB&N seeks candidates who:

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent required in Counseling or a related field.

  • Minimum of five years of college counseling/admission experience; experience on the high school side preferred.

  • Ability to collaborate and contribute to a student-centered philosophy that focuses on listening deeply to students as they navigate the college process.

  • Proficiency in an Apple-based environment, Google Suite for Education, web-based college process management platforms, and Zoom conferencing.

  • Experience with MaiaLearning, Slate, or College Kickstart is a plus.

  • Value advancing students’ knowledge and affirmation of themselves and others.

Salary: $80,000.00 – $100,00.00 (pro-rated for leave position)

BB&N offers competitive salaries and benefits, employing equitable and consistent compensation practices. The starting salary for any hired candidate is based on experience within salary bands (0-30 years).


Compensation for eligible full-time and part-time employees includes a 403(b) plan with up to a 10% match of salary and other competitive benefits offerings. Benefits offered to eligible employees include health & dental insurance; commuter benefits; long-term disability insurance, and more.
