The Maintenance Person is responsible for ensuring the safety, functionality, and appearance of the hotel property through preventative care, routine maintenance, and prompt response to service needs. This role supports guest satisfaction by maintaining clean, comfortable, and well-functioning accommodations and public areas. The ideal candidate is hands-on, dependable, safety-conscious, and takes pride in resolving issues quickly and efficiently. This position plays a critical role in protecting the hotel’s assets and supporting smooth operations across all departments.

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and work orders for routine and emergency maintenance.
  • Perform general maintenance duties including basic painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC care.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance in guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas on a scheduled basis.
  • Troubleshoot and repair minor issues with furniture, fixtures, TVs, plumbing, remote controls, light switches, etc.
  • Assist in the maintenance and cleaning of exterior areas including parking lots, sidewalks, landscaping, signage, and pool areas.
  • Maintain HVAC systems by cleaning filters and reporting major issues to the General Manager.
  • Keep the maintenance shop, tools, and storage areas clean, organized, and secure.
  • Follow safety guidelines and procedures for handling equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Adhere to OSHA, Bloodborne Pathogen, and hotel-specific safety protocols.
  • Greet guests courteously when in guest-facing areas and follow proper room entry procedures.
  • Communicate hazards, damage, or repair needs to be done immediately.
  • Assist other departments with operations support such as moving furniture, delivering guest items, or supporting laundry and housekeeping as needed.
  • Participate in lost-and-found procedures and documentation.
  • Demonstrate strong time management, task prioritization, and teamwork.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times.
  • Always represent the hotel in a courteous and helpful manner—SMILE!

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to frequently walk and climb/descend stairs approximately 50% of the time.
  • On occasion it is required to climb up and down ladders.
  • Must have general dexterity for firm and simple grasping of objects. Some tasks, such as the use of small repair tools, may also require fine dexterity skills.
  • Must be able to periodically kneel, reach, crawl, and twist torso as needed to accomplish required tasks.
  • Must be able to push and/or pull 60% of the time, to include when using a cart to carry linens, trash, tools, etc., or when operating equipment such as a lawnmower, pavement sweeper, wheelbarrow, etc.
  • You must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance and a maximum of 100 pounds with assistance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, and carpentry repairs
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Must poses a valid unrestricted driver’s license
  • Successful completion of criminal background investigation is required
