Senior Full-Stack Engineer, Platform-Leaning
We’re hiring a Senior Full-Stack Engineer with strong backend-product-platform experience to become the first dedicated engineering hire for our product platform.
You’ll help build a secure, cloud-based application that enables researchers at hospitals, universities, and research institutions to upload genomic data, route it through an existing proprietary processing pipeline, review annotated outputs, and interact with results through a robust analysis experience.
This role is a strong fit for an engineer who likes building end-to-end products and whose strongest skills are in backend systems, APIs, workflow orchestration, secure application design, and productizing complex technical capabilities.
What You’ll Do
- Build the first version of a secure researcher-facing web application
- Implement or integrate auth, permissions, and secure data flows
- Connect the application to an existing proprietary genomics pipeline
- Build APIs and backend services for orchestration, status tracking, and output retrieval
- Model and manage projects, samples, runs, outputs, and metadata
- Build the analysis experience for monitoring jobs, reviewing processed results, and supporting bounded natural-language workflows
- Partner with scientific and product stakeholders to shape technical direction and scope
What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience building production full-stack applications
- Deep strength in backend systems, cloud architecture, and API design
- Experience with async jobs, workflow orchestration, or data-processing systems
- Experience with authentication, authorization, and secure application design
- Experience building in AWS
- Ability to build strong web applications for technical users
- Comfort working in a greenfield environment with evolving requirements
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams
- Comfort using modern AI-assisted development tools as part of an effective engineering workflow
Helpful Experience
- Scientific software, biotech, or healthcare experience
- Sensitive or regulated data environments
- Notebook-style integrations such as Jupyter or RStudio
- Natural-language interfaces over structured data
- Large-file upload and processing workflows
