Oar Staffing is conducting a search for a Facilities & Maintenance Manager for an Automobile Manufacturing client in Southern Indiana. This is a DIRECT HIRE


Up to $150,000


Summary

Hands-on Manager for maintenance department in a high-volume auto manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for leading maintenance supervisors, technicians, planners, and MRO operations while driving equipment reliability, reducing downtime, improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and developing a world-class maintenance organization.

The ideal candidate is a strong technical leader with experience in mechanical, electrical, and controls systems who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role requires a continuous improvement mindset, strong leadership skills, and the ability to use maintenance data to improve machine performance and reduce operating costs.

Technical Skills

  • Strong troubleshooting skills involving:
    • Mechanical systems
    • Electrical systems
    • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
    • PLCs and industrial controls
    • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
    • Motors and automation systems
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC/HMI systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge of 480V/208V three-phase electrical systems and 24VDC controls.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience implementing preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or similar CMMS/MRP software.
  • CAD experience is a plus.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, coach, and develop maintenance supervisors, technicians, planners, and MRO personnel.
  • Develop and implement structured training programs, including apprenticeship and journeyman development.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Utilize maintenance metrics including MTTR (Mean Time to Repair), MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) to drive improvements.
  • Provide technical leadership during equipment breakdowns and support rapid troubleshooting efforts.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to standardize maintenance activities.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance documentation and equipment records.
  • Lead root cause analysis for recurring equipment failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve machine reliability, reduce cycle times, and lower maintenance costs.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and applicable standards,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Equivalent maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment will be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of maintenance, engineering, industrial, or military manufacturing experience.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience leading maintenance teams.
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing preferred.
