A hotel maintenance technician ensures all hotel facilities, equipment, and systems are functional, safe, and well-maintained, performing both preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities


Hotel maintenance technicians are responsible for maintaining the operational condition of guest rooms, public areas, and mechanical systems. Their duties include:

  • Repair and Maintenance: Fixing plumbing, electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, and carpentry issues, including doors, locks, outlets, and water heaters, as well as repairing hotel equipment like ice machines, fitness room equipment, hot tubs, and emergency generators

  • Preventive Maintenance: Performing routine inspections, lubricating hinges, replacing HVAC filters, testing emergency lighting, and conducting scheduled maintenance to prevent equipment failure

  • Guest Interaction: Responding to work orders from guests and staff, addressing requests promptly, and assisting guests with disabilities while maintaining professional communication

  • Inventory and Supplies Management: Organizing maintenance inventory, requisitioning parts and supplies, and ensuring tools and equipment are properly maintained

  • Safety and Compliance: Monitoring fire alarms, life safety systems, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols and company standards

  • Documentation and Reporting: Recording maintenance activities, reporting issues to supervisors, and following standard operating procedures

  • Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in at least three trade areas such as electrical systems, mechanical systems, HVAC, refrigeration, or general building maintenance

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose issues, implement solutions independently, and prioritize work orders effectively

  • Physical Fitness: Capability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces


  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, time management, and customer service skills to interact with guests and staff

  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn new skills and handle a variety of tasks in a dynamic hotel environment
