Job DescriptionJob Title: Security Technician II – CCTV & Access Control

Location: Alpharetta, GA

Department: Security / Installation

Employment Type: Full-Time


Position Summary

ASD is seeking an experienced Security Technician II for our Alpharetta, GA office. Working under limited supervision, this role requires complete technical competence across all security and Access Control Systems (ACS). You will be responsible for the programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of security systems per contract obligations. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to resolve highly complex technical problems, guide others through resolutions, and provide detailed design communications to customers, installation teams, and subcontractors.


Key Responsibilities

Technical & Project Execution

  • Program, commission, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on security and ACS systems.

  • Perform tests to determine product functionality, diagnose causes of failure, and analyze test results.

  • Complete in-house assembly, testing, and checkout tasks as required.

  • Review job files, layout drawings, specifications, and equipment lists for efficient installation and service repairs. Document and report any material discrepancies.

  • Solve technical challenges proactively to prevent negative impacts on the customer or company.

  • Assist engineering and sales by providing technical recommendations to produce job layouts and bid proposals.

  • Perform site-specific training for owners/operators on the total system.

Administrative & Inventory Control

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and remain accountable for all parts, materials, tools, and equipment released to your custody.

  • Obtain advance authorization for all purchases exceeding the approved materials list or job cost records.

  • Complete all assigned tasks within the specified cost budget and schedule, taking personal responsibility for work quality.

  • Accurately and promptly complete all required documentation (timesheets, service acknowledgments, quotes, inventory transfers, inspection certificates).

Communication & Leadership

  • Maintain customer relationships based on dependability, honesty, and value-added services.

  • Facilitate smooth communication between the customer, on-site personnel, and company staff.

  • Keep the Project Manager regularly updated on the status and performance needs of ongoing jobs.

  • Mentor other Security Technicians on tools and technology, serving as a technical resource for the team.

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending assigned manufacturer training, seminars, and conferences.


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Technical College Training is highly preferred.

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience installing commercial security systems.

  • Knowledge: Thorough understanding of access control, CCTV, and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) gained via on-the-job training, online training, or independent research.

  • Certifications: Successful completion of basic manufacturer training for access control, CCTV, and IDS.

  • Driving Record: Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

  • Work Environment:

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.

    • Ability to travel as required.

    • Full compliance with company and customer safety programs.

  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, reliable, punctual, ability to follow procedures, comfortable taking direction, and capable of interacting appropriately with the public.

  • Technical Skills: Computer literate, including proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and internet usage.
