A day in the life
You’ll start with a facilities walkthrough, ensuring production and office spaces are clean and orderly. From there, your day might include:
- Diagnosing minor building issues and tackling hands-on fixes—patching and painting walls, repairing locks, and keeping common areas tidy.
- Inspecting electrical panels and wiring to identify risks, confirm code compliance, and enhance personnel safety.
- Supervising onsite contractors, guiding scope, verifying quality, and ensuring work areas remain safe.
- Documenting maintenance activities and completing reports on time.
- Installing, maintaining, and repairing appliances and facility equipment.
- Maintaining outdoor areas—lighting, parking lots, and grounds—to keep the site welcoming and safe.
- Replacing light housings and electrical fixtures as needed.
- Troubleshooting equipment and building systems to minimize downtime.
- Performing routine service on compressors, HVAC units, automated machinery, and mobile equipment.
- Verifying the functionality of safety systems, including fire alarms.
- Collaborating with teammates and external pros during renovations and upgrades.
- Preparing material lists and requisitions to keep projects moving.
- Attending online or offsite equipment and safety training to sharpen your skills.

Qualifications Required
- Basic mechanical tool knowledge and effective use of hand tools/meters.
- Foundational understanding of HVAC, plumbing, air compressors, and/or electrical systems.
- Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
- Clear communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina and manual dexterity; comfortable on ladders and at heights up to 40 feet.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred
- Technical or vocational school/college graduate.
- OSHA 10-hour general industry safety training.
- Drafting or welding experience.
- Training in small engine repair, hydraulics, or pneumatics.
- Experience with manlifts, scissorlifts, and/or forklifts.
Tools and tech
- Regular use of forklifts alongside standard facility maintenance tools.
- Mechanical troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair are central to the role.
- OSHA 10-hour certification is a plus.
