The General Maintenance Technician ensures that all equipment, machinery, installations, and facility systems operate reliably and remain in the required condition. This role covers preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, adjustments, participation in validations, and replacements across the Building, Warehouse, Extrusion, Packaging, and Dip Line areas. You will work across all production areas rather than being assigned to a single line, supporting continuous manufacturing in a clean, FDA-regulated environment.
Responsibilities
- Follow the maintenance schedule to perform adjustments, cleaning, and preventive maintenance on all equipment, machinery, installations, and facility systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment, machinery, installations, and the facility to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
- Perform acute maintenance and replace parts on equipment, machinery, installations, and facility systems as needed to restore proper function.
- Support operators, process technicians, and leadership when issues arise with equipment, machinery, installations, or facility systems, providing timely troubleshooting and resolution.
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures and all applicable safety protocols when working on machines, equipment, installations, or facility systems.
- Use all required personal protective equipment and safety gear when working on machines, equipment, installations, or within the facility.
- Monitor machinery during manufacturing, observe performance, and intervene when components or products get stuck, including realigning or adjusting equipment as needed.
- Replace worn or damaged parts on machinery as required to maintain safe and reliable operation.
- Review and study machinery and processes to identify and secure improvements in performance, reliability, and safety.
- Perform preventive maintenance on assigned machinery and additional equipment as required by the maintenance schedule or production needs.
- Independently maintain assigned manufacturing areas, ensuring equipment readiness and prompt response to issues.
- Support higher-level technicians (Tech II and Tech III) with more complex or intensive maintenance tasks and projects.
- Participate in training provided by Tech II and Tech III technicians to develop skills and progress through the technician levels.
- Work across the Building, Warehouse, Extrusion, Packaging, and Dip Line areas to ensure consistent maintenance support throughout the facility.
- Document work performed through work orders and maintenance records, ensuring accurate tracking of tasks and equipment history.
Why Work Here?
You will join a clean, modern, FDA-regulated manufacturing facility that invests in your growth and long-term development. The organization offers tuition assistance of up to 80%, providing a strong pathway to advance your education and technical skills. You will have clear promotional opportunities through a structured technician ladder, supported by training from experienced technicians and engineers. The environment emphasizes safety, professionalism, and collaboration, giving you the chance to build a stable career while working with advanced manufacturing technologies.
Work Environment
This role is based 100% on the manufacturing floor within the plastics molding and extrusion division, working closely with a team of technicians and engineers. The facility operates as a clean, FDA-regulated environment, requiring you to gown up before entering the plant and to follow all applicable FDA and plant guidelines. You will primarily work on and around injection molding and extrusion equipment, with approximately 16 injection molding and extrusion machines in operation, as well as related support systems. The site includes multiple divisions and product lines, along with on-site amenities such as a café and office space, although your primary focus will be on the production floor. Candidates will train on first shift (approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) before moving to an off-shift as needed. Available shifts include second shift (approximately 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.) with a shift premium and third shift (approximately 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday) with an additional premium.
