Shipyard Painting Supervisor

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shipyard Painting Supervisor to lead painting operations on maritime projects. In this critical role, you will oversee the coordination and execution of painting tasks, ensuring safety, quality, and adherence to project timelines. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, technical expertise, and a proven track record in shipyard painting projects.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate all painting activities on shipyard projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to high standards.
  • Allocate tasks to team members, monitor progress, and provide guidance to maximize productivity.
  • Maintain strict compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations.
  • Inspect surfaces and completed paintwork to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Collaborate with project managers, quality assurance teams, and other trades to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Manage material inventory and requisitions for painting supplies.
  • Address and resolve any on-site issues promptly, minimizing delays and ensuring adherence to project deadlines.
  • Conduct safety meetings and training sessions for the painting crew.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Painting Supervisor within a shipyard or similar maritime environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of painting techniques, materials, and safety procedures applicable to shipyard projects.
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality assurance standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.

Nice to Have Skills

  • Experience with specialized coating systems and corrosion control.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and safety certification programs.
  • Prior experience with project management software.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certifications related to coatings or painting preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years of supervisory experience in shipyard or industrial painting projects.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to travel to various shipyard sites as needed.
  • Valid certifications in safety and environmental compliance are advantageous.
