JEMA is adding a Project Architect to our team. The culture at JEMA is joyful and supportive, that also values hard work, initiative, and collaboration. We are looking for people who embrace challenges and want an opportunity to grow with the firm. While we provide a flexible work environment, the selected candidate must live in the St. Louis area and be able to regularly work in the office, attend in-person meetings and site visits, and be a collaborative member of our team both in-person and virtually. This person will be responsible for leading the development of construction documents, consultant coordination, code review, and technical quality control on multiple simultaneous projects. Experience with municipal, multi-family, educational and workplace architecture is a plus.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design & Documentation: Develop, refine, and review architectural designs, schematics, and fully coordinated construction documents
  • Team & Consultant Leadership: Manage internal design teams and coordinate with external consultants (structural, civil, MEP)
  • Compliance & Permitting: Research and apply local building codes, zoning bylaws, and accessibility regulations to ensure permit-readiness and legal compliance.
  • Client Relations: Collaborate with the client to define project goals, present design options, and manage expectations throughout the project's lifecycle.
  • Construction Administration: Review submittals, respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), issue change orders, and conduct regular site visits to ensure the built work aligns with the design intent

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years experience
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit required
  • Degree in Architecture
  • Architectural license or in process
  • Experience with Adobe Creative suite preferred; familiarity with Bluebeam and project scheduling software (e.g., Monograph) a plus
  • Experience in the management, production and/or coordination of a wide range of commercial projects required.
