About This Role

A Million Dreamz is seeking a dependable, self-motivated Part-Time Maintenance Technician to help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our children, families, and staff. This position is responsible for performing routine maintenance, minor repairs, preventative maintenance, and facility upkeep to ensure our building and grounds remain in excellent condition.

  • Part-time (approximately 15–25 hours per week)
  • Flexible schedule based on the needs of the center
  • Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for special projects



What You'll Do

  • Perform general building maintenance and repairs.
  • Complete basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting tasks.
  • Repair doors, locks, fixtures, furniture, shelving, and equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections of the building and grounds to identify maintenance needs and safety hazards.
  • Maintain heating, cooling, and ventilation systems by coordinating routine maintenance and reporting issues.
  • Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, filters, and other building components.
  • Perform seasonal outdoor maintenance, including snow removal, salting walkways, mowing, trimming, and landscaping.
  • Ensure playground equipment and outdoor areas remain safe and in good repair.
  • Assemble furniture and equipment as needed.
  • Maintain maintenance logs and communicate completed and pending work orders.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors when necessary.
  • Follow all OSHA, Wisconsin licensing, and company safety requirements.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies.



Requirements

The ideal candidate is reliable, takes pride in their work, notices problems before they become bigger issues, and enjoys helping create a safe environment for children and staff.

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous maintenance, facilities, or handyman experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general building systems.
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
  • Pass a background check.
  • In alliance with to DCF 251 employees of group child care facilities must be “Fit and qualified”. “Fit and qualified” means displaying the capacity to successfully nurture and care for children and may include consideration of any of the following: (a) Abuse of alcohol or drugs. (b) A history of a civil or criminal conviction or administrative rule violation that is substantially related to the care of children, as determined under s. DCF 13.05. (c) Exercise of unsound judgment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
  • Work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Safely operate maintenance equipment and tools.
