We’re seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment at our diesel engine remanufacturing facility.
This position is responsible for cleaning and maintaining offices, restrooms, break areas, common spaces, and designated shop areas. The Custodian will also help monitor cleaning supplies, address spills and safety concerns, and complete routine facility-cleaning tasks throughout the day.
We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, can manage responsibilities with minimal supervision, and understands that cleanliness and organization are essential to workplace safety and professional operations.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize offices, restrooms, breakrooms, hallways, entrances, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors throughout the facility.
- Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly.
- Clean sinks, countertops, tables, windows, doors, and other frequently touched surfaces.
- Restock restroom, breakroom, and cleaning supplies as needed.
- Clean designated shop areas while following all safety requirements.
- Respond promptly to spills, leaks, and other cleanliness or safety concerns.
- Maintain custodial equipment, tools, and supply-storage areas in a clean and organized condition.
- Monitor cleaning-supply inventory and notify management when additional materials are needed.
- Assist with seasonal cleaning, facility projects, and deep-cleaning assignments.
- Follow proper procedures for handling cleaning chemicals and review Safety Data Sheets when required.
- Wear required personal protective equipment and follow all company safety procedures.
- Work around active shop operations without interfering with production.
- Communicate maintenance concerns, damage, or unsafe conditions to management.
- Complete assigned cleaning schedules and daily documentation.
- Perform additional facility-support duties assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or facility-maintenance experience preferred, but not required.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain a consistent work schedule.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals, supplies, and custodial equipment.
- Ability to work in a loud industrial and manufacturing environment.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and respond to urgent cleaning needs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to following all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
