Job Description

Job DescriptionManufacturing Equipment Reliability LeadA Day in This Role

Your day starts on the production floor, where you scan work orders and field updates from production supervisors. You assign maintenance tasks to the right technicians, balancing urgent machine repairs with scheduled preventive work. Within minutes, you’re diagnosing a hydraulic fault on a press, coordinating parts procurement, and guiding a tech through a safe lockout/tagout. By midday, you’re leading a changeover and verifying inspection records. Before you wrap up, you review 5S standards in the shop, mentor a junior technician on troubleshooting methods, and capture all maintenance documentation to keep downtime to a minimum.

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate daily maintenance activities and allocate assignments to support production priorities
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on production machinery and facility equipment
  • Lead and participate in equipment setup, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance
  • Diagnose failures and implement efficient repair plans to reduce downtime
  • Oversee maintenance and repair on presses, lathes, milling machines, grinders, conveyors, pumps, compressors, hydraulic systems, and other plant assets
  • Partner with production supervisors and leads to prioritize work and expedite critical repairs
  • Inspect machinery, materials, and finished goods to spot defects and operational issues
  • Identify and request required replacement parts; coordinate timely procurement
  • Report defective equipment and recommend replacement when repair costs are not justified
  • Train and mentor maintenance personnel in troubleshooting, procedures, and safe work practices
  • Support continuous improvement and process efficiency initiatives within the department
  • Complete maintenance documentation, work orders, and inspection records accurately
  • Uphold 5S standards for tools, work areas, and equipment
  • Comply with all Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies and procedures
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications You Bring

  • 4–6 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Deep knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Hands-on troubleshooting and repair experience with production machinery
  • Ability to operate powered industrial equipment or obtain certification
  • Comfort working with minimal supervision
  • Experience coordinating daily work assignments for maintenance teams
  • Ability to handle complex maintenance issues and escalate only the most complex to higher leadership
  • Proven record of providing technical guidance and mentoring to technicians

Core Skills

  • Technical troubleshooting: quickly identifies and resolves mechanical/electrical failures
  • Leadership: organizes work and directs maintenance personnel
  • Communication: collaborates effectively with production teams and leadership
  • Problem analysis: evaluates issues and determines corrective actions
  • Decision-making: executes sound technical choices to cut downtime
  • Team collaboration: works seamlessly with maintenance, production, and engineering
  • Planning: sequences and prioritizes work to meet schedules
  • Safety awareness: drives safe maintenance practices and hazard prevention

Physical Requirements

  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Frequent bending, climbing, reaching, and work in confined spaces
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Comfort working around heavy machinery and manufacturing equipment
  • Manual dexterity for repairs and tool use
  • Ability to work amid noise, heat, and moving equipment in a manufacturing environment
