Position: Software Engineer 3
Location: Mossville, IL (100% Onsite)
Pay Rate: $52/hr
Duration: 12-month contract (potential extension)
In this role, you'll join Caterpillar's Advanced Controls and Condition Monitoring team, developing next-generation control systems for advanced power technologies. You'll work on engine controls, power system controls, software development, and model-based design while contributing to innovative products and technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and enhance control algorithms and embedded software for advanced power systems.
- Design, simulate, validate, and deploy software using SIL and HIL environments.
- Build and maintain models using MATLAB/Simulink, Stateflow, and Simscape Power Systems.
- Support engine modeling, power system controls, diagnostics, and optimization algorithms.
- Perform software testing, debugging, validation, and machine verification.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Utilize tools such as Git, CANalyzer, CANape, Lauterbach, and Python/C/C++ for development and debugging.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (Bachelor's degree alone will not be considered).
- 3+ years of industry experience with an MS (PhD preferred).
- Strong experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Stateflow, and Simscape Power Systems.
- Experience with power system controls, engine modeling, and control system development.
- Knowledge of linear and nonlinear control theory, PID control, and embedded real-time systems.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, or JavaScript.
- Experience with version control (Git) and software debugging tools is preferred.
- Experience with generator controls, hybrid energy systems, renewable energy, or engine controls is a plus.
