Job Description

Job DescriptionThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, functional, and welcoming campus environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This position performs daily custodial services, routine building maintenance, grounds upkeep, event setup, and general facility support to ensure the school remains in excellent operating condition throughout the academic year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Facility Maintenance

  • Perform routine inspections of classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, cafeteria, and outdoor areas.
  • Complete minor repairs including painting, replacing light bulbs, tightening fixtures, assembling furniture, changing ceiling tiles, and other general maintenance tasks.
  • Report maintenance issues requiring specialized repairs to school administration.
  • Monitor school equipment and facilities to ensure safe operation.

Custodial Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, cafeteria, and common areas.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and disinfect assigned areas.
  • Empty trash and recycling containers daily.
  • Restock restroom supplies and maintain cleanliness throughout the afternoon.
  • Clean windows, doors, drinking fountains, and high-touch surfaces.
  • Ensure lunch areas are cleaned and sanitized after use.
  • Prepare classrooms and common areas for the following school day.

Grounds & Campus Appearance

  • Maintain sidewalks, entrances, parking areas, playgrounds, and outdoor spaces free of litter.
  • Assist with light landscaping duties as assigned.
  • Ensure the campus presents a clean, safe, and professional appearance.

Event Support

  • Set up and remove tables, chairs, podiums, and equipment for school events, chapel services, meetings, and special activities.
  • Assist with receiving deliveries and moving furniture or equipment as needed.

Campus Security

  • Assist with securing classrooms and buildings at the end of the school day.
  • Lock doors, turn off lights, and report any safety or security concerns to administration.
  • Follow all school safety procedures and emergency protocols.

Other Duties

  • Maintain an organized inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies.
  • Operate maintenance equipment safely and according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Principal or Administration that support the school's operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in custodial services, maintenance, facilities, or related work preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning procedures, building maintenance, and the safe use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and lift.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely operate ladders, cleaning equipment, and maintenance tools.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Required Employment Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a Level II Background Screening (VECHS).
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Commitment to the mission, values, and Christian philosophy of Central Christian Academy.
  • Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with students, parents, faculty, staff, and visitors.


This is a part-time, at-will position. Work hours may be adjusted as necessary to support school activities, special events, emergency maintenance, or operational needs.
