Location: HONOLULU, HI
- $18 hourly
- Average First Year Earnings: $37,440
- Full-Time
- Monday - Friday
- Day Shift - 8 hours a day
The Alsco Uniforms Custodian (or Janitor) role is a physical, safety-sensitive position responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the company's industrial laundry facilities, equipment, and grounds. Duties include heavy-duty cleaning, equipment sanitation, trash disposal, and operating powered industrial equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Facility & Equipment Cleaning: Scrub, sanitize, vacuum, sweep, and mop floors. Clean plant equipment (often using compressed air) and handle facility upkeep like changing light bulbs, painting, and general maintenance. [1, 2]
Waste Management & Organization: Dispose of trash, clean up spills, separate recyclables, and prepare facilities for events or meetings. [1, 2]
Grounds Maintenance: Keep outdoor areas clear of debris, remove snow/leaves, and trim shrubbery. [1]
Inventory & Record-Keeping: Monitor and restock cleaning and restroom supplies. Log maintenance requests and report safety hazards to supervision. [1, 2]
Material Handling: Operate powered industrial trucks (e.g., forklifts or pallet jacks) to load, unload, and transfer supplies or equipment.

Qualifications & Physical Demands
- Physical Stamina: The role is highly active and requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, and working in cramped or elevated areas. You must be able to lift and carry heavy items (up to 90 lbs lifting and 50 lbs carrying). [1]
- Work Environment: Employees operate inside and outside of industrial laundry facilities. The environment features variations in temperature, dust, lint, odors, and large, moving machinery. [1]
- Experience & Education: No formal education is strictly required. Basic knowledge of cleaning products, the ability to count and sort accurately, and a willingness to be trained on powered industrial equipment are preferred. [1, 2, 3]
