Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Description

As a Maintenance Technician, you will troubleshoot mechanical machine failures by disassembling and inspecting components. You will utilize technical documentation such as prints, manuals, and specifications to assist in troubleshooting, accurately maintain records for critical and quality-related plant equipment, and determine root causes of failures to correct conditions and prevent reoccurrence.

Responsibilities

  • Audit the maintenance program and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Repair failures using current procedures and recommend alternative methods.
  • Develop, document, and perform preventive and predictive maintenance tasks to maximize equipment reliability.
  • Generate out-of-tolerance reports for equipment found outside of acceptance criteria.
  • Perform precision maintenance tasks such as alignment checks, measurement of mechanical clearances, and balancing of rotating equipment.
  • Execute motor and plant lubrication tasks, ensuring grease quantity and intervals are maintained within guidelines.
  • Maintain procedures for critical and quality-related plant equipment.
  • Understand and comply with all OSHA, state/provincial, and local codes.
  • Participate in plant training and safety programs.
  • Use the company's computerized maintenance management system (SAP) to record and access maintenance-related information.
  • Demonstrate safe work habits and proper care for tools and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Acquire new mechanical, pneumatics, and hydraulics knowledge as appropriate.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in electrical, troubleshooting, mechanical, hydraulics, and pneumatics repair.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance.
  • Ability to read and understand labels, blueprints, schematics, job site maps/directions, instruction manuals, and written instructions accurately.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required or equivalent combination of industrial maintenance experience and education.
  • Technical training in accredited technical school or equivalent, with certification in industrial math, rigging, industrial maintenance, welding, pipefitting, machining, lubrication, condition-based monitoring is a plus.
  • Completion of a formal maintenance or technology program with minimum three years of experience in a general first-class maintenance capacity in an industrial environment.
  • Basic electrical knowledge or experience with AC/DC voltage preferred.
  • Knowledge of PLCs and VFDs, prior experience preferred.
  • Knowledge in installation, maintenance, and repairs of common mechanical systems found in an industrial manufacturing facility.
  • Previous experience with conveyors, centrifugal pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, material handling systems, or boiler/steam systems preferred.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Charleston, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $33.00/hr.
