BISHOP JOHN J. SNYDER HIGH SCHOOL – JOB DESCRIPTION
NAME OF POSITION: Maintenance Technician
REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Director of Facilities, Head of Maintenance
I. BASIC PURPOSE: To maintain the physical plant at Bishop John J. Snyder High School
II. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintain school grounds, lawns and athletic fields as directed by supervisor.
2. Keep grounds clean and free of debris and trash.
3. Be alert to emergency problems which arise, i.e. plumbing, clean-up, etc.
4. Make repairs to plant as needed and instructed.
5. Remain alert to strangers, students from other schools, etc. Direct visitors to the Main Office in a friendly manner. Report suspicious persons immediately.
6. Be alert to potential hazards and equipment malfunctions and report all to the Main Office immediately.
7. Remove all trash to dumpsters.
8. Set up or break down tables and chairs for special assemblies during the school year.
9. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Principal, Director of Facilities, or Head of Maintenance.
III. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1. EDUCATION: No specific level required.
2. EXPERIENCE: Some experience working in a maintenance capacity necessary.
3. SKILLS: Must have a general working knowledge of tools and the type of work that is involved in maintaining a physical plant.
4. ABILITIES: Must be alert to the needs that present themselves on campus.
