Position Summary
The Lead Maintenance Technician is responsible for coordinating daily maintenance activities, leading preventive and predictive maintenance initiatives, troubleshooting equipment issues, and supporting continuous improvement efforts. This individual serves as the technical leader for the maintenance team while working closely with production, engineering, and operations to maximize equipment uptime and manufacturing efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of maintenance technicians by providing technical guidance and daily work direction.
- Coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities to minimize production downtime.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain manufacturing equipment, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC-controlled systems.
- Plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability.
- Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and implement effective corrective actions.
- Perform root cause analysis on recurring equipment failures and recommend long-term solutions.
- Maintain and troubleshoot motors, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, compressors, packaging equipment, and other production machinery.
- Support equipment installations, upgrades, and capital improvement projects.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and all company safety policies.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Monitor spare parts inventory and recommend replacement parts and maintenance supplies.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to improve equipment performance and manufacturing processes.
- Assist in developing maintenance procedures, standard operating procedures, and technician training.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or trade certification preferred.
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience leading or supervising maintenance technicians preferred.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar) preferred.
- Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical controls, motors, VFDs, bearings, conveyors, and power transmission systems.
- Experience using CMMS software.
- Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
- Welding, fabrication, and machining experience is a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work in industrial environments for extended periods.
- Lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Work in varying temperatures, noise levels, and around moving mechanical equipment.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, or respond to emergency maintenance situations as needed.
