Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The Maintenance Technician II supports the Operations Maintenance team by installing, maintaining, and repairing material handling, automated packaging, and distribution equipment, including conveyor and pneumatic systems. This role focuses on troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues, performing preventative and predictive maintenance, and ensuring safe and reliable operation of material handling equipment throughout a high-volume facility.
Responsibilities
- Promote a safe working environment by consistently following all safety procedures and guidelines.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance routines on material handling equipment and pneumatic systems, ensuring all work is properly documented.
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems on Material Handling Equipment (MHE), including belts, motors, photo-eyes, relays, and related components.
- Install, maintain, and repair automated packaging and distribution equipment to support continuous operations.
- Conduct predictive maintenance procedures to identify and address potential equipment failures before they occur.
- Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
- Use a multimeter and other diagnostic tools to test and verify electrical and electronic systems.
- Maintain accurate tracking and storage of department inventory, including parts and tools.
- Collaborate and maintain positive working relationships with team members and other departments across the operations facility.
- Move and handle equipment and materials weighing up to 49 lbs, and perform tasks that require standing and walking for shifts lasting up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Travel between departments, floors, and areas of the property as needed to complete maintenance tasks.
- Crouch, kneel, squat, climb steps and ladders, and reach above the head to install, service, or move equipment.
- Use a computer and related systems, including a stand-up desk, for documentation and maintenance-related tasks for up to 1–2 hours per day.
Essential Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of experience working with automated conveyor systems and controls.
- At least 2 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of material handling equipment.
- At least 2 years of experience performing predictive and preventative maintenance procedures.
- At least 1 year of experience reading blueprints and electrical schematics.
- At least 1 year of experience applying electrical and electronic principles in a maintenance environment.
- Ability to use a multimeter for electrical testing and troubleshooting.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair MHE components such as belts, motors, photo-eyes, and relays.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and work safely around moving machinery and electrical systems.
- Physical ability to lift up to 49 lbs and stand and walk for up to 12-hour shifts, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher from a vocational school or college with a focus in Mechanical or Electrical fields.
- 2 or more years of apprenticeship or equivalent experience in Mechanical or Electrical disciplines.
- Experience applying Material Handling Equipment (MHE) safety standards in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and applicable safety standards.
- Project management experience, including planning and coordinating maintenance or improvement projects.
- Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for work orders, maintenance planning, and documentation.
- Experience with robotic operation and maintenance in an industrial or distribution environment.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic input and output (I/O) functions on automated systems.
- Comfort working in environments with fluctuating temperatures and performing tasks that require frequent bending, crouching, and climbing.
- Ability to wear and work with required personal protective equipment, including mask, face shield, and composite-toed boots.

Work Environment
This role is based in a large, fast-paced operations facility that uses automated conveyor systems, pneumatic systems, material handling equipment, and robotics to support packaging and distribution activities. You will work on-site, frequently moving between departments, floors, and different areas of the property, walking an estimated 6 to 12 miles per day. The position involves standing and walking for extended periods, shifts that may last up to 12 hours, and regular lifting of equipment up to 50 lbs. You will often kneel, squat, crouch, climb steps and ladders, and reach above your head while installing or servicing equipment, including bending at the waist or through the legs and spine. The environment includes fluctuating temperatures, and you will regularly perform tasks while wearing required personal protective equipment such as a mask, face shield, and composite-toed boots. The role also requires periodic computer-based work, including documentation and system use, typically at a standard or stand-up desk for 1–2 hours per day.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.50 - $32.50/hr.
