Job Description

Job DescriptionAre you the fixer everyone calls?

Picture this: A line goes down mid-shift. You trace the issue through a schematic, isolate a failed switch, replace it, and bring the machine back faster than expected—safely and by the book. If that sounds like your kind of challenge, you’ll thrive here.

Your mission

  • Hunt down and resolve electrical and mechanical problems across production equipment.
  • Install and repair machinery and facility systems; oversee basic spare-parts storage and inventory.
  • Read and interpret prints, drawings, and schematics to plan effective solutions.
  • Disassemble, repair, reassemble, and validate machinery performance.
  • Run normal, start-up, and emergency shutdown procedures for plant utilities (generator, air compressor, cooling tower, chiller).
  • Replace defective electrical elements including switches and sockets.
  • Carry out safe rigging and lifting.
  • Leverage intermediate machine shop skills as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures—lock-out/tag-out every time.
  • Pitch in on facility work: carpentry, plumbing, and painting.
  • Back up electricians during peak or complex tasks.
  • Brief the Plant Engineer/Shift Supervisor on issues and handoffs each shift.
  • Keep the workspace tidy and organized.
  • Be available to support any segment of forming production when called upon.
  • Take on other tasks aligned with team priorities.

What sets you up for success

  • 5 years of related experience in industrial maintenance.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with proven electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Comfort with basic computer tools for work orders and parts research.
  • Resourceful problem solver who moves from diagnosis to fix efficiently.

How you collaborate

  • Clear communicator—written and spoken.
  • Independent operator who also values teamwork.
  • Positive attitude and cooperative approach.
  • Team-first mindset.

Physical realities of the job

  • Frequent standing and walking; hands-on tool use throughout the shift.
  • Regular communication with teammates—talking and hearing required.
  • Climbing, stooping, bending, and reaching are part of the work.
  • Occasional pushing/pulling, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Lift/move up to 20 lbs routinely; up to 50 lbs on occasion.
  • Need for close vision and color/shade differentiation.
  • Work near moving machinery and lift trucks with noise consistently above 85 dB.
  • Exposure to paper dust common in converting operations.
  • Occasional fumes/vapors or hazardous products (e.g., degreasers, silicone sprays).
  • Expect higher heat and humidity during summer months.

Proficiencies

  • Facilities Maintenance Experience
  • Maintenance and Repair Skills
