Overview
The Janitor and Maintenance Assistant provides routine cleaning and light maintenance at facilities owned and /or managed by the agency. Keeps buildings in clean and orderly condition. Cleans, sanitizes and restocks supplies in restrooms. Performs heavy cleaning, such as cleaning floors, shampooing carpet, washing walls and glass, and removing trash.
Hours: Monday- Friday 7:30 AM- 4:30 PM
Responsibilities:
Cleans, sanitizes and restocks supplies in restrooms.
Collects and disposes of trash.
Set’s up conference room space for different trainings or meetings
Responds to appropriate requests from staff for assistance.
Safely maneuvers heavy objects, including furniture and appliances.
Maintains clean and orderly work areas.
Mops, buffs and waxes floors.
Vacuums carpeting.
Dusts and polishes furniture and counters.
Washes windows.
Properly handles cleaning chemicals, equipment and supplies.
Operates outdoor maintenance equipment such as mowers and trimmers.
Cleans facility parking and landscape areas, including removal of trash and minor irrigation system repair
Complies with safety regulations.
Maintains material safety data sheets (MSDS) in OSHA required log.
Travels between sites and is required to drive.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Six months of commercial custodial experience or any satisfactory combination of experience and training, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and ability to perform the essential functions, listed above. Some knowledge of working with people with disabilities.
Candidates must be able to follow and carry out verbal and written instructions. Possess business experience sufficient to meet the demands of the position, including basic computer skills.
Must pass state-required background and DMV checks; possess a valid OR driver's license and a satisfactory driving record to be approved for driving rights. Candidate must be able to work independently and flexibly, under general supervision.
