Attracting over 150,000 visitors annually, L’Alliance New York is the city’s premier center for French language and francophone arts and cultures. As an independent, not-for-profit organization, L’Alliance New York’s mission is to provide our members and students with engaging French language classes and audacious multi-disciplinary programming that celebrates the diversity of francophone cultures and creativity around the world.

L’Alliance New York is internationally known for offering the largest selection of fully-immersive French language courses for students aged one to 101, and for its renowned cultural programming including the annual Bastille Day celebration that takes place on New York's famed Madison Avenue, attracting over 50,000 visitors each year; the Crossing The Line arts and performance festival that engages NYC cultural institutions in bringing dynamic international artists to audiences; Animation First, the biggest animation festival in the U.S; and the Comic Arts Fest, celebrating the intersection of American and francophone comic arts.

Position Overview
L’Alliance New York is seeking a Development Coordinator to join its passionate team.

Reporting to the Development Operations Manager, the Coordinator will support the Development Department’s membership operations and day-to-day administrative needs in support of the department’s mission to raise funds and cultivate relationships with patrons and members.

This position plays a key role in delivering responsive membership services while supporting the organization’s broader fundraising and development operations.

Key Responsibilities
Membership

  • Respond to membership communications via email and phone in a timely, professional manner.
  • Process membership renewals, including corporate partnerships.
  • Manage data entry into institutional database Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge NXT.
  • Manage specific ticketing requests for patrons and members as needed.
  • Represent membership program at internal and external events to drive new acquisition.

Department Support

  • Assist with calendar management of senior executives.
  • Schedule team and cross-departmental meetings, facilitate agendas, and manage related technology needs.
  • Support gift processing and donor acknowledgements.
  • Prepare department expense reports.
  • Coordinate volunteer management.
  • Support team members on specific projects as needed, and other duties as assigned.

  • You are comfortable working in person Monday through Friday (with one remote day per week) and available to support occasional department needs outside standard hours.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Must hold valid U.S. work authorization.
  • Previous experience in membership services, development/fundraising support, administration, or a similar support role is required.
  • Experience in an educational, cultural, or nonprofit environment is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfort working with administrative and database systems while maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
