Job Description

As a Security Officer Access Coordinator in Portsmouth, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Aero/Defense, and more. Join Allied Universal at a dynamic aerospace and defense location as an Access Control Officer, helping monitor entry points, verify credentials, and support a professional, welcoming atmosphere. In this role, you will perform routine patrols, remain visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and deliver strong customer service and communication. What You'll Do:

Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and contractors by following site-specific access control procedures, credential verification steps, and other security-related policies at the location.
Monitor entry and exit points, check badges and identification, manage visitor processing, and document authorized access activity in accordance with established protocols.
Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and communicate with site contacts and/or emergency responders as appropriate.
Conduct regular and random patrols of designated interior and exterior areas, including perimeter access points, to help identify unusual activity and report concerns.
Support security-related operations in a location with controlled access requirements by maintaining detailed logs, reporting policy violations, and assisting with emergency response activities when appropriate.

Minimum Requirements:

A Guard Card and/or license is preferred.
CPR and/or First Aid certification is preferred.
Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
