Job DescriptionJob Title: Maintenance Technician IJob Description

The Maintenance Technician I ensures the efficient and reliable operation of high-speed and complex processing and packaging equipment. This role focuses on troubleshooting, identifying problems, maintaining, testing, installing, and performing mechanical repairs on a wide range of processing and packaging systems, while supporting safe and continuous plant operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform journey-level electrical work to install, modify, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical systems, commercial kitchen equipment, controls, and other complex equipment.
  • Maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, robotics, motors, pumps, conveying systems, and cooking equipment to ensure consistent and reliable performance.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctioning components of processing and packaging equipment and determine effective corrective actions.
  • Diagnose complex problems related to HVAC systems under general supervision and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Repair and maintain heating, air-conditioning, and ventilation systems, including disassembling, assembling, and installing related components.
  • Test, adjust, and calibrate mechanical and electrical control systems associated with HVAC systems to maintain proper operation and efficiency.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation of maintenance records, work orders, and task records in accordance with company standards.
  • Conduct routine facility tours and safety checks to identify potential issues and support a safe working environment.
  • Operate company-owned equipment, machinery, power tools, and testing equipment in compliance with all applicable safety regulations and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management to support maintenance and production needs.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of journey-level experience in electrical and heating equipment maintenance.
  • Completion of an apprentice-level electrical and mechanical training program plus 2 years of progressive experience as an electrician preferred.
  • HVAC Journeyman's License preferred.
  • Strong electrical skills, including the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Ability to read and follow manufacturers’ maintenance manuals to determine proper operation and repair procedures.
  • Proficiency in performing Lockout Tag Out (LOTO) procedures to ensure safe maintenance practices.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and operational knowledge of control systems.
  • Effective troubleshooting skills with the ability to systematically diagnose mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Ability to work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including installation, repair, and maintenance.
  • Capability to climb ladders and extension ladders up to 35 feet safely.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds with assistance as needed.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions for extended periods of time.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance practices on industrial equipment.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics related to electrical and mechanical systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working with high-speed processing and packaging equipment.
  • Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment and cooking systems.
  • Experience testing, adjusting, and calibrating mechanical and electrical control systems.
  • Comfort using a variety of power tools, diagnostic instruments, and testing equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail when completing maintenance records and work orders.
  • Commitment to following safety procedures and regulations in all maintenance activities.

Work Environment

This role operates primarily on a first-shift schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. You will work in a production facility that includes cold and damp areas, refrigerated spaces, and hot zones near heated equipment. The position requires frequent use of ladders and extension ladders, manual handling of equipment and components, and work in tight or uncomfortable positions for extended periods. You will regularly use company-owned machinery, power tools, and testing equipment while following strict safety and Lockout Tag Out (LOTO) procedures in an industrial maintenance environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $66560.00/yr.
