About the Role

The Quality Assurance Supervisor supports Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory programs within our fast-paced food manufacturing environment. Reporting to the VP of Operations and partnering closely with the SQF Practitioner and Production team, this hands-on leadership role is responsible for supervising and supporting the daily activities of the Quality Assurance Technicians while ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards. The position also assists with maintaining quality documentation, supporting audits, and ensuring production meets company, customer, and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate enjoys being on the production floor, coaching and developing QA Technicians, monitoring food safety and quality systems, supporting audits, investigating quality concerns, and driving continuous improvement throughout the facility.

Candidates should have prior food manufacturing experience, a working knowledge of SQF, HACCP/HARPC, regulatory compliance, and GFSI auditing standards. Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred but not required. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in English.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support daily Food Safety and Quality operations throughout the facility.
  • Supervise, train, coach, and develop Quality Assurance Technicians.
  • Monitor compliance with GMPs, HACCP/HARPC, SQF, SSOPs, and company food safety procedures.
  • Conduct production floor inspections and verify product quality throughout manufacturing.
  • Assist with internal, customer, regulatory, and third-party food safety audits.
  • Develop, update, and maintain quality procedures and documentation.
  • Investigate product quality concerns and assist with corrective and preventive actions.
  • Prepare quality reports and monitor quality trends and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Partner closely with Production Management to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards.
  • Train employees on critical food safety and quality requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, auditors, and internal departments.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in food manufacturing or Quality Assurance.
  • Strong food manufacturing background; experience with sauces, soups, dressings, or similar products preferred.
  • Working knowledge of SQF, GFSI auditing standards, HACCP/HARPC, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience supporting food safety and quality programs within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring employees preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred but not required. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in English.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work around production and facility equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work around moving machinery, elevated noise levels, temperature variations, and wet or slippery conditions.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE.
  • Must be flexible to support production activities, audits, sanitation, and operational needs outside normal working hours when required.
