Job DescriptionMake Ready Technician

Job Summary
The Make Ready Technician prepares vacant apartment homes for new residents by completing repairs, maintenance tasks, and unit upgrades in a timely and professional manner. This role helps ensure each apartment meets company standards for quality, safety, and cleanliness prior to move-in. The ideal candidate brings apartment maintenance experience, strong general repair skills, and a commitment to customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all make-ready activities for vacant apartment units within established deadlines
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, flooring, and appliance repairs
  • Inspect vacant units and identify maintenance deficiencies
  • Replace or repair fixtures, locks, blinds, doors, and hardware as needed
  • Prepare walls, paint interiors, and complete touch-up work to company standards
  • Install and repair flooring, countertops, cabinetry, and other unit components
  • Ensure all appliances are operational and in good condition
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas throughout the property
  • Assist with preventive maintenance and service requests when needed
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and OSHA guidelines
  • Communicate effectively with maintenance supervisors and property management teams regarding unit status and completion timelines
  • Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 1+ years of apartment maintenance, make-ready, construction, or related experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, drywall, and carpentry repairs
  • Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment safely
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
  • EPA Certification is a plus but not required

Nice to Have Skills

  • Apartment turnover and make-ready experience
  • Basic HVAC troubleshooting and repairs
  • Painting and drywall finishing
  • Appliance installation and repair
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

Preferred Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 1+ years of apartment maintenance, make-ready, construction, or related experience preferred.
