Job Description
The Final Integration Technician performs final verification, systems bring-up, and quality delivery of completed unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) airframes. This role confirms structural, electrical, and mechanical conformance of each aircraft, conducts weight and balance activities, performs full system checkout and engine runs, and prepares and loads aircraft for customer delivery. The technician works from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and detailed work instructions to ensure each aircraft meets rigorous quality and performance standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform final verification of completed UAS airframes, ensuring structural, electrical, and mechanical conformance prior to release.
- Work from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, bills of materials, and detailed work instructions to complete integration and verification tasks.
- Conduct full aircraft-level verification of structural, electrical, and mechanical systems to confirm proper installation and functionality.
- Perform weight and balance measurements on completed aircraft using appropriate scales and measurement devices, and complete required calculations and documentation.
- Execute full system checkout and power-on bring-up of avionics, flight control, payload, and communication systems, verifying correct operation and configuration.
- Perform, monitor, and document engine runs for small gas or turbine engines, including break-in procedures and associated troubleshooting.
- Use diagnostic software tools, multimeters, and other test equipment to verify wiring continuity, system performance, and resolve technical issues.
- Identify, document, and disposition nonconformances (NCRs) in coordination with Quality and Engineering teams, ensuring proper traceability and corrective actions.
- Prepare, crate, and load completed aircraft for shipment and delivery, ensuring safe handling and protection of all systems and structures.
- Use hand tools, test equipment, and measurement devices such as multimeters, scales, and calipers to support integration, inspection, and verification activities.
- Maintain accurate records and quality documentation to support traceability, compliance, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Work within traveler/router documentation or MES/ERP work order systems to track work performed and ensure configuration control.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Quality and Engineering, to resolve issues and ensure aircraft meet all technical and quality requirements.
- Demonstrate ownership of work by proactively identifying issues, proposing solutions, and ensuring tasks are completed to a high standard.
Essential Skills
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, and detailed work instructions.
- Proficiency in performing full aircraft-level verification of structural, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Experience with final assembly verification and quality inspection of aerospace or UAS structures.
- Ability to perform weight and balance measurements and calculations on aircraft or similarly regulated systems.
- Experience with electrical and avionics system checkout, including wiring continuity verification and troubleshooting.
- Ability to perform full system checkout and power-on bring-up of avionics, flight control, payload, and communication systems.
- Experience performing and documenting engine runs, including small gas or turbine engine break-in and troubleshooting.
- Competence in identifying, documenting, and dispositioning nonconformances (NCRs) in collaboration with Quality and Engineering.
- General proficiency with hand tools, test equipment, and measurement devices such as multimeters, scales, and calipers.
- Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills to support quality documentation and traceability.
- Demonstrated quality-focused mindset and experience working in a structured quality environment.
- Ability to take ownership of work, follow through on tasks, and maintain high standards of workmanship.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with final assembly verification and quality inspection of aerospace or UAS structures.
- Prior experience in UAS, aerospace, or defense manufacturing environments.
- Experience with electrical and avionics system checkout, wiring continuity testing, and troubleshooting.
- Experience performing weight and balance on aircraft or other regulated systems.
- Experience with small gas or turbine engine runs, break-in procedures, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with structural engineering concepts related to aircraft or aerospace structures.
- Experience working from traveler/router documentation or within MES/ERP work order systems.
- Ability to use diagnostic software tools for system checkout and troubleshooting.
- Strong documentation skills for NCRs, test results, and quality records.
Work Environment
This role is based onsite in Madison, AL, in a hands-on aerospace manufacturing and integration environment. The Final Integration Technician works around completed UAS airframes, avionics, and propulsion systems, using hand tools, multimeters, scales, calipers, and diagnostic software tools to perform verification and checkout activities. The position involves working from structured work orders, travelers, or MES/ERP systems, and collaborating closely with Quality and Engineering teams in a production and test setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Madison, AL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00/hr.
