Job Title: Embedded Triage Engineer

Job Description

The Embedded Triage Engineer will evaluate performance data and test results from on-road and simulation testing. This role involves traditional embedded system triaging and investigating simulation data through counterfactual analysis. The engineer will perform forensic analysis of robotic disengagements and collaborate cross-functionally to transform and enhance system triage and forensic processes. Strong experience in large-scale, safety-critical systems or software development is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Perform triage, tracking, and metric reporting for system anomalies and test escapes.
  • Utilize 3D visualization tools to analyze sensor data and identify root causes of complex software/hardware issues.
  • Report on software quality using defect ratios and software heatmap viewpoints.
  • Analyze autonomous vehicle behaviors from public roads and closed-course testing.
  • Utilize simulation tools to identify edge-case scenarios and enhance Reinforcement Learning & Training models.
  • Conduct counterfactual simulations of selected events, providing critical analysis to mitigate unsafe system behaviors.
  • Collaborate on tooling requirements for efficient triage and data visualization, aiming to extract insights regarding software maturity.
  • Maintain and optimize the defect management process and ensure high-quality bug ticketing.
  • Contribute to a rapid integration and deployment schedule, supporting consistent software stack releases.
  • Track and follow-up on high priority and blocking defects, ensuring continued progress.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, Systems Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 3-5+ years of industry experience leading test programs focusing on system triage, defect tracking, and impact analysis.
  • Experience with complex embedded systems including ADAS technologies, autonomous driving software, and sensors.
  • Experience with software development tools such as build systems, containers, and source control.
  • Experience with real-time or safety-critical systems and machine-learned software components.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail and the ability to learn in unstructured environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience testing autonomous vehicles, ROS-based robotic systems, or ADAS features.
  • Configuration management of safety-critical systems and understanding of systems engineering and verification, validation methodologies.
  • Experience designing and commissioning custom HIL test fixtures.

Work Environment

This role requires working on-site at least a couple of days a week to support the automation team and drivers. You must be accessible for resolving issues related to the trucks. Shift work is involved, including second shift (1-9pm) and night shift (12am-8am), supporting truck schedules throughout the day and night. The work environment is dynamic, with a focus on innovative AI technology and training AI models.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Worth, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
