Position Summary

Hailiang Copper Texas Inc. is seeking a dependable, hands-on Facilities Maintenance Technician to help maintain our 200+ acre manufacturing campus and administrative facilities. This position is responsible for performing a wide variety of facility maintenance, groundskeeping, repair, and improvement projects to ensure our buildings, equipment, and grounds remain safe, functional, and professional in appearance.

This is a highly diversified role requiring someone who enjoys working both indoors and outdoors and who takes pride in keeping a facility operating at its best. Successful candidates will be mechanically inclined, self-motivated, and comfortable performing a broad range of maintenance tasks.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesBuilding Maintenance

  • Perform general maintenance and repair of office buildings, warehouses, and manufacturing facilities.
  • Repair doors, windows, walls, ceilings, flooring, fences, gates, and other building components.
  • Perform painting, drywall repair, patching, caulking, and minor carpentry.
  • Replace ceiling tiles, lighting fixtures, bulbs, and other building hardware.
  • Assemble, install, and move furniture, shelving, and equipment.

Grounds Maintenance

  • Mow grass and maintain landscaped areas.
  • Trim trees, shrubs, and hedges.
  • Weed flower beds and maintain campus appearance.
  • Operate lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers, and other groundskeeping equipment.
  • Remove trash and debris from parking lots, sidewalks, and common areas.
  • Assist with seasonal grounds maintenance and storm cleanup.

Mechanical & Trades Support

  • Perform basic plumbing repairs, including faucets, toilets, drains, and piping.
  • Perform minor electrical work such as replacing switches, outlets, light fixtures, and breakers (within qualifications).
  • Assist with HVAC maintenance and filter replacement.
  • Repair locks, door hardware, and other building systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair general facility equipment.
  • Coordinate with licensed contractors for repairs requiring specialized certifications.

Preventive Maintenance

  • Conduct routine inspections of buildings and grounds.
  • Identify maintenance issues before they become major problems.
  • Complete preventive maintenance activities according to established schedules.
  • Maintain maintenance records and report repair needs.

Campus Operations

  • Assist with office moves, equipment relocation, and facility setup.
  • Support production departments with facility-related requests.
  • Assist during emergencies including water leaks, severe weather, power outages, and facility damage.
  • Operate forklifts, lifts, or other equipment as authorized.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance inventory.

Safety

  • Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Report unsafe conditions immediately.

Other Duties

  • Perform other maintenance, repair, construction, or facility-related duties as assigned.

QualificationsRequired

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years of general maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction, or related experience.
  • Valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and lawn equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work from lifts, kneel, crouch, and perform physically demanding work.

Preferred

Experience in one or more of the following trades is highly desirable:

  • Plumbing
  • Electrical
  • Carpentry
  • Welding
  • HVAC
  • Concrete repair
  • Mechanical maintenance
  • General construction
  • Irrigation systems

Trade certifications are a plus but are not required. Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment is preferred. Broad facility maintenance responsibilities often include basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, groundskeeping, and preventive maintenance.

Physical Requirements

The employee must frequently:

  • Walk throughout a large industrial campus.
  • Stand for extended periods.
  • Lift, push, pull, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, and reach.
  • Work from ladders and elevated platforms.
  • Work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, humidity, and varying weather conditions.
  • Work around industrial machinery while following all required safety procedures.
