We are seeking an experienced IT Production Support Assistant to join a major public sector organization, one of the largest government agencies in Los Angeles, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to support critical production systems operating in mainframe and midrange environments, ensuring the seamless execution, monitoring, and support of enterprise applications in a 24/7 operational environment.

Key Responsibilities
\n
- \n
- Support production applications running in IBM mainframe and midrange computing environments.
- Create, schedule, execute, monitor, and troubleshoot production jobs using enterprise scheduling tools.
- Coordinate and control mainframe console operations, including device assignments, operator message responses, and input/output operations.
- Support COBOL-based mainframe applications by promoting program packages and source code members through Endevor.
- Monitor production processing and ensure jobs are completed according to predefined schedules and operational standards.
- Manage and update incident and service request tickets using tracking tools, documenting actions and resolutions.
- Work closely with application developers, operations teams, and business users to resolve production issues.
- Review, update, and submit operational procedures and technical documentation.
- Participate in team presentations, knowledge-sharing activities, and training initiatives.
- Support a 24/7/365 operational environment and perform production support tasks across day, swing, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts as required.
- Assist with printer operations and large-volume production print jobs.
- Support operational excellence by identifying process improvements and ensuring adherence to established standards and procedures.

Required Experience
\n
- \n
- Minimum 2 years of experience within the last 5 years working in an IBM mainframe operations and production control environment.
- Minimum 2 years of experience within the last 5 years using Control-M for ordering, holding, submitting, canceling, monitoring, and managing production jobs.
- Minimum 2 years of experience within the last 5 years working in a data center environment interacting directly with customers and supporting operational services.
- Minimum 2 years of experience within the last 5 years managing incidents and service requests using ticketing systems such as Cherwell Service Management or similar platforms.
- Minimum 2 years of experience within the last 5 years using Endevor to migrate and manage application programs, JCL, PROCs, and control statements.
- Experience supporting COBOL-based mainframe applications and related production support activities.
- Knowledge of Job Control Language (JCL), production scheduling, batch processing, and mainframe operations.
- Experience troubleshooting production issues in enterprise computing environments.

Important Work Schedule Information

This is a 24/7/365 operational support team. Work schedules may include day, swing, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts based on business requirements. Advance notice will be provided whenever possible.

This position follows a Hybrid work model, requiring a combination of onsite and telework support. Candidates must be comfortable and available to work non-traditional hours when required.
