Position Summary
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of facility systems, and building infrastructure. This position requires experience working with HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, and general building maintenance, including carpentry. The ideal candidate is a hands-on capable of maintaining equipment reliability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance on facility equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical equipment.
Maintain and repair industrial HVAC systems, including air handlers, exhaust systems, rooftop units, split systems, and ventilation equipment.
Perform routine inspections of HVAC equipment and respond to equipment alarms and system failures.
Diagnose equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime.
Perform plumbing repairs including valves, piping, fixtures, and drains.
Complete carpentry projects including:
- Framing and drywall repair
- Ceiling tile replacement
- Door and hardware installation
- Wall repairs and painting
- Flooring repairs
Install equipment and assist with facility modifications and improvement projects.
Maintain tools, equipment, and an organized maintenance shop.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience.
Experience troubleshooting and repairing HVAC equipment.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Experience using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
Preferred Qualifications
HVAC certification (EPA Universal Certification preferred).
Industrial electrical troubleshooting experience (120V, 208V, 240V, and 480V systems).
Experience with cleanroom or pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.
Welding and fabrication experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Working knowledge of:
- HVAC systems
- Air compressors
- Pumps and motors
- Mechanical equipment
- Basic electrical systems
- Plumbing systems
- Carpentry and building maintenance
Excellent teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements
Frequently lift up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 30 pounds with assistance.
Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
Work on rooftops, mechanical rooms.
Ability to work in temperature controlled environments.
Ability to respond to emergency maintenance calls outside normal business hours when required.
Preferred Industry Experience
Experience in one or more of the following industries is highly desirable:
Pharmaceutical manufacturing
Food and beverage manufacturing
Medical device manufacturing
