Job Description

Job DescriptionSalary:

Cloud Software Engineer

Location: Worthing, SD Department: Engineering Job Type: Full-Time

About Puck

Puck started with a family, a few acres in Manning, Iowa, and a habit of building better tools than the ones on the market. Since then we've grown into a family of manufacturing brands serving agriculture, oil and gas, fire, and industrial markets engineering equipment that's used hard, in the field, every day. We're Built to Lead, and that shows up in how we build products and how we build careers: we invest in people, push for continuous improvement, and don't cut corners.

About the Role

We're looking for a Cloud Software Engineer to design, build, and support backend services, APIs, and cloud-based applications using C#, .NET, and Microsoft Azure. You'll independently own features from development through deployment and operational support, contribute to technical design conversations, and help ship reliable, production-ready software.

If you want to write real production code, own your features end to end, and grow alongside a team that's actively modernizing its platform, this is a great next step.

What You'll Do

  • Design, implement, test, and maintain backend services, APIs, and application components using C# and .NET
  • Build and support cloud-hosted solutions in Microsoft Azure, using compute, storage, messaging, and identity services
  • Contribute to technical design and implementation decisions for features and services, with an eye toward scalability, reliability, performance, and maintainability
  • Write clean, secure, well-tested production code and actively participate in peer code reviews
  • Collaborate with product managers, QA, and other engineers to turn requirements into effective technical solutions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve defects, performance issues, and production incidents across application, cloud, and data layers
  • Support CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and release processes
  • Use logging, monitoring, and alerting tools to improve observability and operational support
  • Document technical designs, implementation details, and support procedures
  • Provide guidance to less experienced engineers through code reviews, collaboration, and knowledge sharing

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field or equivalent practical experience
  • 3-5 years of professional software engineering experience building and supporting production applications
  • Strong proficiency in C# and the .NET ecosystem, including modern application development patterns
  • Hands-on experience developing, deploying, and supporting applications or services in Microsoft Azure
  • Experience building REST APIs, service integrations, and data-driven applications with attention to reliability and maintainability
  • Solid understanding of relational databases, SQL, data modeling, and ORM frameworks such as Entity Framework or Entity Framework Core
  • Experience with source control, automated testing, CI/CD, and standard software development lifecycle practices
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across application and cloud environments
  • Ability to work independently on defined technical problems while collaborating effectively within a team
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with ASP.NET Core, background services, microservices, or event-driven architectures
  • Experience with Azure services such as App Service, Functions, Azure SQL, Service Bus, Storage Accounts, Key Vault, Application Insights, Monitor, and Entra ID
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with infrastructure as code, environment automation, or configuration management
  • Understanding of observability, distributed tracing, caching, messaging patterns, and performance tuning
  • Experience supporting modernization efforts or cloud migrations
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers or interns
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, documentation, or productivity
  • Microsoft Azure certifications

Why Puck

  • Competitive pay and benefits, including health, dental, and vision
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Room to grow mentorship from senior engineers and a clear path to take on more ownership over time
  • A family-owned company modernizing its technology stack your work will directly shape how the business runs, not just support it

Puck provides equal employment opportunities to all applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or genetics.
